John Duthie FRCOG

He graduated in medicine at Liverpool University and took up a Lectureship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Hong Kong, followed by posts as Senior Registrar in Liverpool and Chester. He was appointed a full-time consultant in 1995. For many years he has been passionate about medical education; he was appointed as an examiner for the DRCOG in 1997 and for the MRCOG in 2001. He served on the Part 2 EMQ committee from its inception in 2003 to 2006. He has taught on several of the MRCOG revision courses and has been co-convener of the College Part 2 revision course since 2005. In March 2007 he was sponsored by the College to visit and liaise with the National Board of Medical Examiners in Philadelphia, USA on item development and assessment of test validity.
He is the majority partner.

He has worked in the Examination Department of the College since 2003 and has been Deputy to the Head of the Department since April 2006. From 2000 to 2003 he worked in a similar capacity at the Institute of Healthcare Management. He completed a part-time PhD in First World War history in 2007 and is hoping to publish a resultant book soon.
